Online Therapy

Online Therapy in Massachusetts

You do not have to live near Brookline to work with me. I offer secure, private telehealth to clients anywhere in Massachusetts — the same thoughtful, evidence-based care as in-person sessions, from wherever you feel most comfortable.

In short: Dr. Rebecca Rabin, PsyD offers secure online therapy to clients across Massachusetts. Video sessions provide the same evidence-based, compassionate care as in-person visits, with added flexibility for busy professionals, college students, and anyone outside Brookline. Research shows telehealth is as effective as office-based therapy for most concerns.

Therapy that fits your life

Online therapy lets us meet by secure video whether you are at home, in a dorm, or working from an office across the state. As a licensed psychologist based in Brookline, I can see clients located anywhere in Massachusetts, which removes commuting, parking, and geography as barriers to getting good care.

The work itself is the same: warm, collaborative, and tailored to you, drawing on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and mindfulness-based approaches.

How online sessions work

Getting started is simple. We begin with a free consultation, and if we decide to work together I send a secure video link before each session. At your appointment time, you click the link from a private space and we meet face to face on screen.

Sessions run the same length and rhythm as in-person visits, and I keep the same steady, focused attention. Many clients tell me they settle in quickly and forget the screen is even there.

Who online therapy suits well

Telehealth is a strong fit for many people, and especially for those whose schedules or locations make regular office visits difficult.

Busy professionals balancing demanding work and travel

Parents and caregivers with little free time

People who simply feel more at ease at home

College students, including those away from campus on breaks

Anyone living outside the Brookline area

Is online therapy effective?

Research consistently finds that telehealth is as effective as in-person therapy for many common concerns, including anxiety and depression. The relationship between client and therapist — the strongest predictor of progress — translates well to video. I have supported college students and adults through meaningful change this way.

That said, online care is not right for everyone or every situation. If telehealth is not a good fit for your needs, we can talk about in-person sessions in Brookline instead. This work pairs naturally with my work with college students.

Getting the most from a session

A little preparation helps online sessions feel as natural as meeting in the office. Finding a space where you will not be interrupted lets you speak openly, and a few clients keep water, tissues, or a notebook nearby just as they might in person.

If your schedule shifts, telehealth also makes it easier to stay consistent — and consistency is where much of the progress in therapy comes from. You can keep our regular time even during a busy week, a trip, or a stretch away from home.

Privacy and what you will need

I use a secure, confidential video platform and treat your privacy with the same care as in-person sessions. All you need is a private, quiet space, a reliable internet connection, and a device with a camera — a laptop, tablet, or phone all work well.

If you are curious whether online therapy is right for you, reach out for a free consultation and we can talk it through together.

Online therapy FAQs

Who can you see for online therapy?

I can provide online therapy to clients located anywhere in Massachusetts. Because I am licensed in Massachusetts, you need to be physically in the state during our sessions, but you can meet from home, work, or a dorm — wherever you have privacy.

Is online therapy as effective as in-person?

For many common concerns, including anxiety and depression, research finds telehealth to be as effective as in-person therapy. The therapeutic relationship, which most strongly predicts progress, translates well to video. Some situations are still better suited to in-office care, which we can discuss.

What do I need for a session?

You need a private, quiet space, a stable internet connection, and a device with a camera such as a laptop, tablet, or phone. Before each appointment I send a secure video link that you simply click at your session time.

Is online therapy private and secure?

Yes. I use a secure, confidential video platform and protect your privacy with the same care as in-person sessions. Choosing a quiet space where you will not be overheard also helps you speak freely and get the most from our time together.

Can I switch between online and in-person sessions?

In many cases, yes. Some clients meet in person in Brookline when convenient and by secure video when travel or schedules make that easier. We can find a rhythm that fits your life, and revisit it as your needs change over time.
